Eurotransplant OPCC has a new Hungarian chair

Dr. Sándor Mihály HNBTS, Director of Transplantation, was elected by Eurotransplant as the chair of the Organ Process Chain Committee (OPCC) responsible for organ donation, with the support and approval of the Council of Medicine and Science. Hungary has been a full member of Eurotransplant since 2013, so since then there has been a Hungarian representative in every advisory boards, but this is the first time that a Hungarian representative has been elected to head an advisory board.
Since joining, the new president has been steadfastly committed to developing and improving the quality of cooperation, which he can now represent with even greater authority. In addition to the partially different legal regulations and practices of the eight member states, it is of paramount importance to optimize, harmonize and improve the efficiency of international organ exchange, primarily in the service of patients in need of organ transplantation, and with maximum respect for deceased donors. The key players in the allocation of donor organs and international organ exchange implemented within the framework of Eurotransplant are the national organ donation organizations, such as the Organ Coordination Office of the Hunagarian National Blood Transfusion Service and the coordinators working there.
