The national uniform patient information leaflet has been published in Hungary, prepared jointly by the four Hungarian  kidney transplant centers, the regional Waiting List Committees, and the Hungarian National Blood Transfusion Service.

The Hungarian program, launched in 2024, relies on the recruitment of additional voluntary donor-recipient pairs. This new leaflet also supports the implementation of the EURO-KEP project and the development of the Hungarian KEP

Hungary has amended its regulations on living donor kidney paired exchange, enabling exchanges among multiple donor–recipient pairs, allowing surgeries in more than one transplant center, and opening participation to all pairs, not only those medically incompatible. As a contracted partner of the EURO-KEP project, the Hungarian National Blood Transfusion Service (HNBTS) highlights that these changes directly support the project’s objectives and represent significant progress in consortium work.

The  Hungarian partners of the EURO-KEP project — HUN-REN KRTK, Ă“buda University, and the National Blood Supply Service (OVSZ) — held a coordination meeting to discuss the national aspects of the project.

The aim of the meeting was to support the implementation of project tasks in Hungary, ensuring alignment with the overall objectives of the EURO-KEP initiative.
